If you use makeup, reading an eye makeup remover review would seem to be a necessity. This product review will focus on the Neutrogena brand and their Oil-free Eye Makeup Remover.
As a brand known for its sensitive products and expert testing, I have always felt confident that any Neutrogena purchase would never harm my skin or body. If dermatologists believe in the company, then at least I know it is doctor approved. Therefore, I have used Neutrogena products religiously over the years without ever a problem.
Neutrogena Eye Makeup Review
Given my view of Neutrogena, it seemed a natural fit to buy their makeup remover. For years I had always removed eye makeup with a little lotion or while washing my face with soap, but as my lifestyle changed and aging set it, I found myself using more waterproof and long-lasting makeup products. Additionally, the marketplace has changed, with significantly more basic makeup items becoming harder to simply wash off. While this is good for wearing throughout the day, it can make for a challenge of cleaning off at night.
After struggling to clean off my eye makeup and finding that lotions close to my eyes were not a good plan, I set off to invest in some eye makeup remover. Having never bought this specialized type of a makeup cleaning product, I was unsure of the avenue I should take. Thus, when I spotted the Neutrogena Oil-free Eye Makeup Remover on the shelf of my local Wal-Mart, this eye makeup remover review was born.
Based on the company's advertising, Neutrogena's eye makeup remover is:
- 100% Oil-free
- Ophthalmologist Approved
- Safe for Contacts
The product is designed to be used with a cotton ball and then washed off with warm water after use.
Eye Makeup Remover Review
After using this remover for a couple months, I felt it necessary to write an eye makeup remover review. This product did the job of removing my eye makeup, but it did not live up to all its claims.
I find it hard to believe this product contains no oil. When left to sit, the liquid separates into what appears to be a water and oil solution - with an oilier liquid sitting on top. The container mentions needing to shake well before use and it is easy to see why. A few times I did forget to shake and ended up with an extremely greasy eye area.
Even when the product is applied as specified, there is a mild greasy residue. Of course, rinsing with warm water removes this. But, I have often wondered why an oil-free product does not behave like one.
Probably the most important feature of an eye makeup remover is eye safety. At no time during this eye makeup remover review did I experience any eye irritation. Even when the product actually got in my eyes, with my contacts on, there was absolutely no discomfort.
Availability and Price
The Oil-free Eye Makeup Remover is sold almost everywhere Neutrogena is carried. This creates easy access to the product with common merchants like Wal-Mart and Walgreens, and most drugstores both off and online, stocking this remover. The price is reasonable at around $7 for a large container of 5.5 fl. oz, certain to last you for months.
