I use a wonderful (and affordable product!) called Erth Minerals & it is a great mineral makeup. They have a wonderful selection of colors & their customer service is phenomenol. Plus, shipping is free on purchases over $55.00!

Hi Kelly,

Thanks so much for your post. It's really going to help our makeup community!

I wear mineral makeup from a place called Purely Cosmetics. They're only available online, but I found the coverage was superior to Bare Minerals or many other brands I tried. It also has no Bismuth, and you don't need to wear a mineral veil and lasts all day long. They have sample sizes of almost everything that you can buy for pretty cheap, and they are generous amounts. I like that they come in sifter jars and not baggies; it's much easier to apply that way!

I also have ordered Free samples from a company called MineralSilk.com - they make you pay shipping to, but its a great way to try there products. They have sample packs for different skin tones and show you a coupon code on top of the samples pack page to use. They also have blush sample packs for you to try. They have quick shipping and there makeup seems comparable to Bareminerals.

A surprisingly effective form is the drug-store brand "jane," not Jane Iredale but just jane (lowercase), which has a small but good selection.

Thanks, these are some good tips. I've been wanting to try mineral makeup and it is nice to know I might be able to sample before spending a large amount up front!

I wanted to add a couple companies for mineral makeup samples. Everyday Minerals, i ordered free samples(only paid shipping) and love the product, especially the semi-matte version. Comes in a wide range of colors www.everydayminerals.com

Another one i ordered samples from is meow cosmetics, it had a huge color range (I tend to like foundations without peach/reds in them and more yellow/olive undertones)but I haven't recieved them yet.

I wish other companies were so accomodating in ordering low-cost or free samples of their product. If a product is good, they shouldn't hesitate. So many mainstream cosmetic companies catch us into purchasing a full size of something we later don't like, for various reasons.
