Hi Tara,

It sounds to me like it may be the formula of your eyeliner (some tend to smudge more than others). What are you using?

Hey, I'm not sure what kind of eyes I have, but whenever i use my eyeliner pencil, the crease(I think) smudges it and it looks strange. I'm asian, but I have a crease, even though you can't see it. It's about 5mm wide. Do you have any tips that can help?

Hi Ebony,

We would love to help, but since we can't see a picture of your eyes, you'll have to decide what your eye shape is. That said, what color are your eyes? Based on that we can recommend some colors for you.

Hello!

It seems like forever that I've been trying to find out info on the internet on how best to apply eyeshadow to my shape of eyelids, which isn't too common of a shape.

I have ALOT of eyelid, like the singer Cher.... and alot of brow bone, and a deep crease between eyelid and brow... like Cher, smiles!

I've read one makeup artist say to add dark to medium colors on lid, and very light colors on the brow bone, and deepest colors in crease.

Another artist says medium or dark eyeshadow on the lid will only make eyelid look heavier and tired, so to keep eyelids light, so to bring eyelids out more.... and use medium to dark colors on brow bone, to push it back.

So I'm confused. I never like the way my eyes look in pictures so I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. I realize no two faces are alike, so what may suite "Cher" may not suite me... even though we both have similar eyelid shapes?

Would love to know your opinion.... and would love it if you would respond to my email addy as I may miss your response here. Thank you soooo very much for whatever help you can give me!!!

By the way, I have medium colored brown eyes, and my skin color is warm... I look best in autumn colors.

Blessings, Theresa (tab73@hotmail.com)

Hi Tamz,

A double lid just means that you have a crease in which you can apply color. Since you are not sure about whether your eyes are round or oval, why not do two sets of makeup? Use the makeup techniques for the round eyes and see how that looks. Then use the makeup techniques for oval eyes. Compare and contrast which technique looks better on you and then you'll know the one that works best. Thanks for the question!

I'm not sure if my eye shape is round or oval or what my eye placement shape is. I've been told I have double lids-what does this mean? Thank you!

Hi Bacchante,

Try these steps for even wider eyes:

  • Always apply a base eye shadow in a light color like bone, or champagne.
  • Tweeze your eyebrows so that they arch slightly. This will open up the eye.
  • Use an eyelash curler to further open up the eye and to get sky high lashes that last all day.
  • When it comes to color, choose carefully. A lot of times, the darker the shadow, the more closed the eye will appear, so consider lighter colors that offer a bit of shine, like gold, pale peach, a sparkly blue etc.
  • Finally, when it comes to eyeliner, remember that the closer you draw the line under the eye, the more "closed" the eye will appear. Therefore, leave a little bit of space under the eye (where your bottom lashes are) before applying eyeliner.

Thanks for the post and I hope these tips help!

Wow, some people are just looking for reasons to be offended, aren't they? I have very round eyes, and elongation adds elegance. What I want to know is, is there a way to accentuate the size and shape of round eyes, to make them appear even wider? Thanks!

Hi Capucine,

We're very sorry if the language in the article offended anyone. Please believe that really is not our intention. Our intention, in fact, is to tell everyone, no matter their unique look, that they are beautiful. Makeup is just a way to enhance that natural beauty. Again, we sincerely apologize if the tone of the language used was offensive. Thank you for joining the conversation.

"This eye shape if often large, and open-looking, so the challenge is to elongate the eye to give it a more sophisticated appearance...so round eyes are crude?
