Hi Sam,

We completely understand. We are working on our how to videos, but in the meantime please visit our Makeup Chiseled Cheekbones. You'll find a great "how-to" video in that article that should be very helpful. Thank you for the post!

I just started looking at this site like 5 mins ago. I am looking for like how to videos. Lol. I am terrible with eye make up. I have been using the same pack thing for three years. THANK GOODNESS it is still being sold or I would be lost. But I want to branch out from that. Do you do "how to" videos? If not, would you b willing to do them?

Hi Hannah,

Great question! You have two choices. You can either "prep" your lid with a primer, or you can prep the lid by first applying powder to the entire lid and then applying your eye makeup. Thanks for the question!

Hi Tara,

What would you like to do with your eyes? Do you want them to appear smaller or larger? Please write back and we'll try to help. Thank You!

Hi there, I like the article. but what about those people with big eyes what can we do?

-- Contributed by: Tara

Hi Michelle,

By "hooded" do you mean that you want them to look like "bedroom" eyes? If yes, then when you apply eyeliner, make the line on top of the eyelid thicker- so draw a thick line instead of a thin line. This will make the eye smolder! Thank you for the question!

hello i have the basic eye shape but was wondering how to make them look hooded. btw i tryed some of ur tips i could really tell the difference :)

Hi Sam,

To make the eyes rounder, join the eyeliner that applied on the top, with the eyeliner applied on the bottom (instead of winging out the top). What you want to do is to make the eyes more circular. Do this:

  • Apply eyeliner to the top (do not wing it out).
  • Apply eyeliner to the bottom.
  • Now, join the two lines at the corner end of the eye by using a circular "C" motion.

That should do the trick!

Hi Jessica,

Thanks for writing back. If you are looking for sophisticated look then you have two choices: go with something sheer and pretty, but defined. Or try a smokey eye look.

For a sheer pretty look try:

  • Locate a terrific eyeliner that's waterproof or budgeproof (Maybelline makes some pretty good ones. Pick a soft grey, blue or black.
  • Grab a base eye shadow color (something light like bone or champagne (the key here is to find a color that will highlight the eyes and even out the skin color).
  • Apply the shadow over the entire lid.
  • Next, try a slightly darker shade like taupe or nutmeg (a shade that works well with your eye color). This will be your contour color and will allow your eyes to pop.

Finally, remember to curl your lashes and to apply mascara.

If you want to go dramatic and sophisticated then try this article:

  • Smokey Eye Makeup Application- it will tell you step by step how to do the smokey eye look with the minimal amount of fuss. Thanks’ again and good luck on the big night!

-- Contributed by: sam

Hi Jacqueline, I was looking for something sophisticated but not too heavy. I don't really wear makeup often so i just need something to make me look a little more dressed up.

Hi Jessica,

Please write back and tell me what look you are going for. Do you want your eyes to stand out in an electric kind of way? Or are you thinking of going for a more sophisticated look? Write back and let me know and I'll get back to you. Thank You!

Hi, I need help figuring out what to do with my eyes for prom. My dress is an aqua colour, i have fair skin and blue eyes.

Hi Mary,

Try using a combination of pink and brown. Use a light pink wash over the entire lid, and then follow up with a deep brown. You can try any combination of beige/white/purple as well. Please see our Eye Shadow for Brown Eyes article for even more great ideas. Thank You!

Hi Ashlee,

Usually those annoying creases happen when there's "moisture" on the eye (from sweat or what have you). The best thing you can do to prevent that is to "prep" the eye in some manner. You can either go with a primer or you can just "set" the eye with some powder. Either way, those creases should begin to go away. Thanks for the question!

How do you keep your eye shadow from making creases on your eyelids?

-- Contributed by: ashlee

Hi Ashley,

Maybe you should try using lighter colors, with a little iridescent shine to really bring them out. I also have extremely dark eyes, so I know what you’re talking about. One thing that always works is using a glittery pink, silver or gold eye pencil. Try that and see if it helps. Thanks very much for your question!

I have very very dark brown eyes so dark in fact they tend to appear black. My colors i have tried do not work well with my pale skin. I was wondering if there is away to intensify my eyes as well as make them look brighter without clashing with my pallid skin tone.

Thank you for your time, Ashley

Hi. I have hazel eyes, brown and green, and ive tried alot of colors of shadows but none of them make my eyes "pop" at all. I was wondering if you could help me.

Hi Kara,

Great question, and it sounds as if you do have beautiful eyes! Have you tried putting a little bit of silver or gold on the inner corners of your eyes to really make them pop? You can purchase a glittery, silver or gold pencil to accomplish this. Other shades that would work great on you are:

  • Brown
  • Taupe
  • Camel

All of these shades will make your eyes even bluer. Think about the color wheel- anything on the opposite side of a shade will make a color "pop". So brown would definitly do that for you. Also, please check out our article Best Eye Shadow Colors for Blue Eyes- it's sure to help! Good luck and I hope this helps!
