Hi Raven,

Thank you for the thoughtful comment- and people who say that obviously don't know what they are talking about and live in a world of stereotypes- not too bright if you ask me! Thanks for the post!

-- Contributed by: Jacqueline Dautaj

Exactly! I love wearing clothes/makeup unlike others. I always get complimented for it. And THANK YOU for not saying emos are suicidal. :D

Hi Chloe,

Yep, everything, including makeup, looks best in moderation. However, everyone has the ability to express themselves in whatever manner they deem appropriate. Thanks for taking the time to write us here!

Hi Hawkstar,

We couldn't agree with you more- everyone has the right to express themself in the manner they choose- thank you for bringing attention to that!

-- Contributed by: Jacqueline Dautaj

Hi me.

Thank you for sharing that with us here!

-- Contributed by: Jacqueline Dautaj

Chloe, your advice was good, but for whoever's looking at it, beware the white face powder. Too much, or if you have dark skin, makes you look gothic (or sickly).

Hi, I'm emo and I would like to say a few things about your article. First, neither my friends nor myself dress like we do, or do the emo makeup because we want attention. Emos aren't necessarily shy, either. Also, if you live in a tolerant area, you shouldn't have a problem expressing yourself. This is just another counterculture movement, mostly made up of the misunderstood and artists, and not discriminatory.

Hi Chloe,

Thank you very much for those great tips you left for Lindsay- I think you were spot on and I also wanted to commend you for being so helpful to her! We need more folks like you who give great advice and care enough to do just that. Thanks again!

Hi Lindsay,

Don't feel helpless when it comes to makeup. First, I think Chloe has some great suggestions for you (search on the Web, and you will find plenty of examples of Emo looks). Because you have brown hair and brown eyes, turquoise eye shadow (and purple too) will look spectacular on you. Please try to keep in mind that you are doing exactly the right thing by asking for help. Follow some of the steps that Chloe left because her tips are great!

This comment is for Lindsay. First of all, hi! I`m 14 and people say i`m an emo.I guess this is true but none of the "emos" i know look anything like that picture as that just seems to be a picture of a very average girl. Emo clothing generally comes from companys like living dead souls, Criminal damage, hell bunny, iron fist and many others.

Emo Makeup You can get white face powder or foundation from a company called stargazer (optional)

red, bright pink or turqouise eyeshadow should be applied all over the eye however widely you like

black liquid eyeliner should be applied around the eye close to the lashes with a rounded corner on the inside of eye. you can then experiment with patterns and drawings spiriling off your eyes when you feel more confident.

There is loads of youtube videos dedicated to teaching people how to apply emo style makeup so take a look and remember never use anyone elses look as your final look. just take peices of it and add your own ideas to make it origional.

I hope this helped!

Hi EmO-chickaa,

Thank you for contributing here! We agree, we can't just stick someone in a box and called them Emo- like everyone, there is a unique personality to each individual. Thanks for the post!

Hi Rachael,

We couldn't agree with you more. Just because someone identifies with a specific group it doesn’t mean that they all of a sudden become cookie cutter versions of each other. Thanks very much for posting your opinion here!

Hi Cutthroat,

We're so happy you enjoyed this article! Thanks so much for contributing here!

-- Contributed by: Jacqueline Dautaj

I liked your oppinion about this. But not all emos are sad, are brats, or are dark. Infact almost every emo i've met are Really outgoing, happy like, they give a positive vibe the kind that attracts people.

i'm clearly the biggest emo in nthe entire world. i sleep in a black pit of my own self pity & i love nothing more than 'being drunk'. I spend my saturdays hanging out with my emo friends. nothing says saturday that the smell of fake hair & clip on piercings!!! i agree - eyeliner is that way forwardd! MYSPACE ME ...ESSS

Hi Anna,

Thanks so much for sharing! It's really important that our visitors have a well-rounded view on this genre of style- so thanks again!

-- Contributed by: Jacqueline Dautaj

hey i'm emo. and not all emo's are shy and stuff, they don't just do stuff to get attention. what's up with parents. just because your emo doesn't mean your a freakin brat or that you have to fit into a catagorie. it's about expressing yourself as much as possible and not go with the flow. people are who they are. and let's not change it.

yea i'm a colorful emo

Hi Fel,

I couldn't agree with you more. Hopefully, through articles like this and through comments like yours, people will finally start to get the message that hate has no place in our society. I have hope that the tolerance movement will grow until it eradicates all forms of discrimination. Thanks for your post!

Hi Gabi,

I'm so happy that you enjoyed this article. We appreciate your comments to our side and we hope to continue to bring you great articles. Thanks again!

-- Contributed by: Jacqueline Dautaj

hi Jacqueline. actually.... my comment doesn't really have to do much with emos. but... i stumbled upon this article through browsing several others from this site, and... i just wanted to thank you. for your article suggests tolerance and understanding. i am actually not an emo either, it just depresses me quite a bit to come across so much useless hate of people who may not deserve it at all.

-- Contributed by: fel

Yay! finally the truth about emos. no, we are not goth or suicidal, just sometimes sensitive. it is a little known fact that emos can also have a fun, outgoing side, like a party animal or a fun person. and it is so hot to wear black makeup and studded beltsssss!!!!!

-- Contributed by: gabi

Hi Jessica,

Thank you for expressing your views and for shedding even more light on the Emo movement!

-- Contributed by: Jacqueline Dautaj

people call me emo just because my music is a bit different then theirs and because of the way i dress and the piercings i have. thats so stereotypical. but what's more stereotypical is how you call someone who is touchy and shy emo. i'm one of the most outgoing party animals from my friends. i just choose to listen to loud music and wear skinny jeans ^.^ FYI, not all emo people cut themselves. i know a lot of chongas "gangster girls" who cut themself. so just because our music is "screaming" doesn't mean we wish to die.

Hi x-Lishaaxx and Drop Dead Gorgeous,

We sincerely appreciate both of your views. This is an all inclusive site, so no matter the hair color, we hope you'll both check out some of our other articles:

Again, thank you for your views!

-- Contributed by: Jacqueline Dautaj

I am blonde and emo. Just because you don't have a curtain hair color, doesn't make you not emo. Someone could say, like me,"Hey,im emo" and then someone else be all,"No you have blonde hair,Blondes can't be emo." That is a lie.

-- Contributed by: x-Lishaaxx

ok...that girl in the picture?

NOT emo. >_>

real emos are hard-core, black nail polished, black hair, layered up to the nape of their neck, darker clothes. not blondes with little pink bows in their hair.

-retches-

and i understand how you are trying to convey the "image" of the emo to all comfused individuals...but not all emos are shy.

im emo. not shy. or touchy.

im actually very outgoing. i just choose to dress this way because i find it appealing.

^_^

Hi Amy,

We agree- labeling is not helpful to anyone, however, here at LTK Makeup we try to explain certain makeup trends. In that sense, I hope we were accurate and appropriate.

Thanks for your comment!

-- Contributed by: Jacqueline Dautaj

Personally, I don't think people should be labelled. We're not soup cans and people shouldn't bully eachother on how they dress, or do their makeup. It's just wrong. Why can't we all get along?
