i'm a freshman in college and i had to write a topic on how the world is a cruel place....and i chose animal cruelty in cosmetics.... and i think this is they should stop testing on animals. what makes the differnece... animals are like humans too? it is very depressing seeing what the world is coming to...

this is disgusting, what has the world come to!? i'm sure that more people would stand up and say that this is wrong and immoral if it was happening to a human, but there isn't really a difference! it's so cruel. i came across this website while researching the topic of cosmetic animal testing for a speech, and it made me sick to the stomach.

oomggg!!! thats so cruel to torture animals like that...it shuld be illegal. . . . i dont get why people dont just use the alternitive.. im only 13, i understand that it is pretty nessisary to test medicine, and stuff.. but i dont see why we have to use animals to test makeup.

I think that's a great idea! And you are right, if it was clearly spelled out on the product, people probably wouldn't buy it. people need to be INFORMED OF THESE PRODUCTS! it needs to be CLEARLY displayed on the product, as to whether it's been tested in animals! people need to stand up! of they do, it won't prove beneficial for make up companies, & hopefully they'll STOP!

there should not ever have been any type of testing on animals testing in the first place. They should be left in the wild to live on there own. we the people should be the ones that make up is tested on since we want to wear the make up. the animals are foced aganisted ther will to do this and i think that that is wrong. despite what anyone thinks, animals have feelings too. if you were perhaps a rabbit, would you want products being tested on you. animals have hearts as well as us. maybe you should find different practices, that don't refer using animals!

You make me sick. You sick people, you should be the one that gets tested on ! animals and humans should have the same rights.

You can't seriously expect people to think that your doing the right thing. You really ruined our day. Animals are just as importan, they have feelings too. I would rather suffer then have an animal suffer for me !

The thing that i didn't buy about this sight was when you said "Animals have been used in testing for over 2,000 years and the debate has been going on for just as long". making innocent animals suffer and die just to make us pretty is wrong. The government claims it's for scientific research so they dont get fined, but if some average-joe did something like scientists do then they would be fined and sent off to jail. if only the public new more about this and we raised some awareness, then maybe we could all join together and stop animal testing!

I don't understand why they animal test... look at all the good products we have that are agianst it and they are some of the most popular.. i feel that the products that do anaimal test don 't even work that good... and why animals? they aren't the same as us not even close.... we have different reactions.. it's piontless it needs to come to an end!!! i abslolutely and positively agree :D

I believe that volunteering is the way to go in testing products. At least the subject would have a choice in whether to participate or not. it really does not matter about their economic status just the fact they had the option is enough. pick up a little animal and listen to its little heart beating and know that all those animals that are in labs right now have the same rhythm of the heart, and just cant understand why no one loves them and why they are suffering.

I don't support testing on animals, but I though of an interesting point today. So we don't test on animals, we instead test on volunteers. These volunteers are quite possibly risking life and limb for the assurance that the finalized product will be safe. What I don't agree with is the manner in which many of the companies come up with these volunteers. Most offer a very small compensation, or even only free product. Overwhelmingly the individuals that would take part in such a test would come from the lowest economic demographic in the country. So next time you see a "not tested on animals" sign, realize that it actually should read "Tested on the Poor!" We need to come up with a better solution.

animal testing is stupid and cruel. why should animals die and suffer just to make ourselves look better as people ? it amkes no sense. i have just now found out today that people have been using animals for testing for over 2000 years, that is very disappointing. obviously most people do not care about this. and it's ashame. it's things like animal testing and animal cruelty that make me feel ashamed to be a human.i am 13 years old and i will fight until the day i die to end this.

First, we completely understand your horror at this horrible practice. The prevailing thought for some companies is that it's safer to test on animals before giving the products to humans. But because of concerned citizens like you getting involved, the practice is slowly, but surely changing.

The best thing you can do is to get involved. Write or call your congress representatives (go to www.house.gov/writerep.com for a list of email addresses and phone numbers. It's only through voicing our concerns and speaking out can this horrible practice stop. Thank you for your question and remember to stay involved!

First thank you for your question. It's always nice to see that people are interested in learning more about the subject of animal testing.

Since it would take a dissertation to fully answer all of your questions, here's what we do know. These folks don't do animal testing:

Bath and Body Works
The Body Bakery
The Body Shop
Kiss My Face

Note that this is a short list. There are many companies that abhor this barbaric practice. Research your questions on Google and you'll be sure to come up with a full list.

If you'd like to join the fight against animal testing, consider joining People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), or some like-minded group.

As for when this will end, it will truly only end when concerned citizens like yourself speak up, write your congress-person, and become involved with reputable organizations.

Johnson & Johnson (on their Aveeno, Clean and Clear and Neutrogena products)
Gillette
Braun
