I have tryed i think every perscription (sp) and over the counter cream but nothing works. I am 15 and it runs in my family to have bad ance but I dont know what to do because they leave scars on my face and I wont leave the house without make up and I dont want that so what can I do? Also what should I use for cover up/foundation? I have no idea what ones better to use or not?

-- Contributed by: Jacqueline DautajDear Dana, I have acne scarring. I tried to use a transparent nail polish to make it look flat but it's quite obvious and it's rough to the touch. Is there any other transparent liquid/solution that I can use to make my acne scars look flat but that is not obvious? Thank you so much for the help.
-- Contributed by: ArlynHi Kristy,
First, I'm so sorry; it must also be painful. I would like you to leave your question on our Ask the Makeup Expert page. Dana Persia is a professional makeup consultant, I have no doubt that she'll have the expert advice that you need. Thank you for the question!
-- Contributed by: Jacqueline DautajHi,
I have cystic acne around my mouth and chin. The bumps are huge and very painful. I have quite a few purple acne scars around my mouth, directly under my nose, and on my chin from them.
I used to have beautiful skin and this has been a problem in the last year. I recently lost 25 pounds in a span of 6 months and this is when the problem started happening.
My skin is very dry and I find it very hard to cover up the scars because my skin is flaking and the cover up looks dry and caked on. I have been taking Solydn and my dermatologist thinks it may be periodontal acne. The antibiotic has controlled the breakouts but I still get very large painful cysts every once in awhile. I am left with purple scars that I can't cover. I also started using proactive and it is really drying my already dry skin out even more.
1. Can you please recommend a concealer and foundation for dry skin that will cover up the purple acne scars?
2. What facial cleanser and astringent do you recommend for my dry acne prone skin?
Thank You

That's a great question for our makeup expert, Dana Persia. Please leave a comment for her here:
Thanks for the question!
-- Contributed by: Jacqueline DautajI have a lot of acne scars and redness on my cheeks and I don't want to go for anything expensive like laser treatments or anything like that. I just want to buy something from a regular store like Walmart. I have oily skin, well atleast I think. I breakout mostly on my cheeks. Is there anything I could try that will remove the scars and redness?
-- Contributed by: ChristineHi uv,
Have you tried using those pore strips? You can find them at Walgreen's. If that is not an option, have you tried using a warm washcloth? Just place the washcloth over the area for about 10 minutes, and then to gently pry the blackhead out. If after 15 minutes of the washcloth, it's still not coming out, leave it alone, and wait a few days and then try again (otherwise you risk doing more damage). Thanks for the question and good luck!

-- Contributed by: Jacqueline DautajHiya, Im 15 and iv suffered from acne for a couple of years now. Iv been to the docotrs on several occasions and none of their medication helps. I mainly get big red infected ones which scab over, i have tried all different types of foundation but nothing with cover them. I use moisturizer and toner everynight but nothing seems to work. Are there any foundations you can suggest or any other face care product which can help.

-- Contributed by: Jacqueline DautajHello,
I have some red marks (acne scars) on my cheeks and I have been using Murad and it worked for a while but now I am getting cystic acne again. I have considered going to get Blu light treatment but in the meantime I need help. Is there a store brand of foundation I can use? HELP! :)
-- Contributed by: TanyaHi Sasha,
Please try Cetaphil. It's one of the very best thing you can use to wash your face to help combat acne, and it comes highly recommended. Thank you for the question!
-- Contributed by: Jacqueline DautajHi Dana
I have pimple scars on my cheeks that I have been trying to get rid of..Can you please tell what can i use to get rid of it?-- Contributed by: sasha
Hi Shanaya,
Head to Dermablend. They have some amazing products that might just do the trick!
-- Contributed by: Jacqueline DautajI have a scar on the side of my lip from an acne how can i cover that?
-- Contributed by: shanayaHi Terrence,
It won't help to get rid of any scars, but it may help to soften their appearance. Is the scar on your face or on your body? If it's on your body, then go ahead and try the Vaseline. If it's on your face- that can get a little tricky; you don't want to clog the pores. Try a product that is specifically designed for scars instead. Thanks very much for the question!
-- Contributed by: Jacqueline DautajDoes Vaseline help with acne scars?
-- Contributed by: TerrenceHi Tara,
You'll need to invest in a good concealor and a sturdy brush (a concealor brush) to apply. After you've applied foundation (if you use it), go ahead and dot the concealor on and blend. You don't want to have any tell tale demarcation lines. From there, follow up with powder, and presto- flawless skin anyone would be proud of! Good luck and thanks for the question!
-- Contributed by: Jacqueline DautajHey,My Names Tara I have nice skin, but when i was younger i used to pick and pick at my pimples and now that i am older i see scars and it looks gross. how do i apply make up to hide thoes nasty scars?
-- Contributed by: TaraHi James,
I'm so sorry that you have to go through this- it sounds like such a process! In terms of laser treatments, I don't have any personal experience, but you can try this site to find out more:

-- Contributed by: Jacqueline DautajHello. i am 16 and over the past few years i have suffered from redness on my face. I was reffered to a dermotologist who at first gave me roaccutine tablets to clear up my acne then after i finished the tablet course he would reccomend me to have pulse dye laser treatment on my face to kill the red blood cells which would lead me with a reduced red face. at the moment i am half way thorugh the tablet course and he has reffered me to the laser ceneter to have the surgery on my face so my question is wheather you could tell me if it acually works and also the dermatologist has arranged an appointment for me to have a camoflage cream test which would cover up the obvious redness in the meanwhile. Could you also tell me if having this camoflage cream on my face would look like i am wearing make up please and whether people have said it is a good route to go down? thankyou
-- Contributed by: jamesHi April,
That's a really common complaint for folks that use acne treatments. The only way to take care of that is to make sure you use a moisturizer (preferably one that won't clog or dry out your skin more). I know that a lot of people with acne shy away from moisturizer because they fear it will make them break out even more, but if you don't, you'll always run the risk of having dry skin. The trick is to choose the right one.
-- Contributed by: Jacqueline Dautajhow do i get rid o dry flakey skin the acne medacation i use it dry's me out sooo much?
-- Contributed by: aprilHi Sara,
Have you tried Proactiv? It may be able to help, but I think you have to follow their program to the letter in order to see results. You can also try Dermablend to cover up scars. Just click on the "Dermablend" link that's highlighted and you'll be taken to their official website. Thanks for the question and good luck to you!
-- Contributed by: Jacqueline Dautajdear whoever, i have many scars and acne on my face i have been trying to take it off but nothing works what do you recommend? thanks,Sara
-- Contributed by: saraHi LA,
We sincerely appreciate your input on this matter. Our expert, Dana Persia is a well known makeup consultant with a thriving practice, and would not give out information that she did not think would help our readers. That said, we appreciate you adding your voice to this discussion. Thanks again!
-- Contributed by: Jacqueline DautajHello! You suggested using cornstarch to a reader above, yet maybe you should check your facts before giving out advice. Cornstarch is actually a HUGE breeding ground for bacteria - and a big "no no" for those with acne. Unfortunately, I learned this the hard way... don't make your readers, such as Jaci, do the same.
-- Contributed by: LAHi Constance,
I think your is a very important question. Please post it on our Ask the Makeup Expert Page. This way, in about two week's time, our makeup expert Dana Persia will get back to you with an answer. Thanks very much for your question.
