Revitalash
From LoveToKnow Makeup
Revitalash is a product that promises larger, fuller, and thicker lashes.
The Promise of Revitalash
What woman, especially after seeing the doe eyes of Halle Berry and Jennifer Lopez, wouldn’t want mile long lashes to bat and preen in? Yes, it’s true that we could go the route of the fake lash, but who wants to mess around with all that glue? In light of that mess and fuss, many have turned to Revitalash.
The background of this product is almost has compelling as its promise. Husband and doctor Michael Brinkenhoff, after seeing the devastating results that his wife Gail underwent during chemotherapy, wanted to develop a product to help give her back her once long and lovely lashes. It’s within this context that Dr. Brinkenhoff, along with a specialized team of cosmetic chemists, developed an eyelash conditioner that within a few weeks grows lush, lengthy lashes.
How to Use
Formulated to operate like liquid eyeliner, customers are encouraged to apply the product once a day. Then, after three to ten weeks, your own natural lashes should appear longer, thicker and fuller. The company claims that one can expect these results no matter how sparse, brittle, short or thin your current lashes are.
Safety Concerns
In 2007, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) confiscated “old stock” of Jan Marini’s Age Intervention Eyelash because it contained the ingredient bimatoprost, an ingredient that can have dangerous side effects when used in conjunction with a medication that is used to treat glaucoma.
At the at time, Revitalash was using small amounts of bimatoprost in its formula, but as a precautionary measure, the company voluntarily decided to suspend the sale of that particular formula. Since that time, the product has been restructured to no longer contain that ingredient, and for all intent and purposes, is now considered perfectly safe for use.
Answers to Common Questions
Even with those safety concerns tackled, obviously many customers still have questions that need to be addressed. Some of these questions include:
- Is the product safe to use during pregnancy? As it stands right now, the company does not recommend use of its product during pregnancy.
- Can I use the product more than once, or in larger quantities? The short answer here is no. Customers are encouraged to closely follow the instruction sheet that accompanies the product. As it stands right now, applying the product, to the base of the eyelash, as it were a liquid eye pencil, is all that is recommended. The company maintains that only a small amount of the product a needed in order to see results.
- Can I use this product with other lotions/moisturizers? The company says yes to this question, but they recommend that you apply the conditioner first, wait five minutes and then apply your moisturizer as usual. On a precautionary note, the company also recommends discontinuing use if one sees, or feels, any irritation.
Purchasing Information
One has two choices when it comes to purchasing Retivalash. The first is through the company’s website. Unfortunately, the price on that website is exorbitant at $150.00. Now, you may think that at such a high cost that you may be getting an extra bottle or two, but you would be wrong!
The second avenue and a substantially cheaper one, is through Amazon.com. There you can purchase the new, safe formula for only $66.73. Compared with $150.00, that’s quite a savings! Additionally, this may also be the better route because you have the ability to read several reviews from other customers who have already purchased the product.
To Sum Up
While this product does seem to be something of a miracle cure, please keep in mind that it can only work if you currently have lashes. So, if you are in the process of going through chemo right now, wait to use this product until some of the lash hairs begin to come back in. Additionally, although this product is listed as a cosmetic with the FDA, it may be a good idea to clear it with your doctor before you begin use.
