Permanent Eyebrow Makeup
From LoveToKnow Makeup
Permanent eyebrow makeup application is on the rise, thanks to a growing desire for hassle-free brows and money-saving beauty techniques.
Beautiful Brows
The difference between unkempt eyebrows and well-groomed ones is dramatic. Even the slightest change to the brows can change a person's expression or appearance drastically. Groomed eyebrows never truly go out of style – even if a heavier, bushier brow (think Brooke Shields circa 1982) makes its way back to the forefront, it should be tamed and neat.
Groomed eyebrows should be a beauty must for any woman, regardless of whether or not she employs a regular beauty regimen. Simply put, a clean brow area lends the face a fresh, revitalized look that might otherwise be marred by the appearance of unruly brows.
If you don't shape your brows regularly, consider these reasons for doing so:
- Grooming the brows is anti-aging at its easiest and quickest! It can take years off your appearance, making you look more youthful and radiant.
- Grooming the brows will shape your face. Enhancing the arch, even minimally, opens up the eye area, resulting in a cleaner look.
- Grooming the brows will boost your confidence! The symmetry and shape of well-kept brows are instant beautifiers. Even walking out the door without makeup somehow seems less daunting if the brows are all in place.
Deciding To Use Permanent Eyebrow Makeup
Many women opt for the application of permanent makeup. The advantages to permanent eyebrow makeup include:
- Saving money.
If you're constantly purchasing brow pencils, gels and powders to fill in your sparse brows with, you know those costs can add up! Permanent brow makeup, however, is so precise that you likely won't even need a pencil for touching-up purposes.
- Saving time.
The process of filling in the brows is meticulous, requiring a bit of extra care and attention. Permanent makeup application to the area will save valuable time in the morning. Perhaps you could squeeze in a few minutes of extra beauty sleep, instead!
- Avoiding cosmetic allergies.
Many women are simply unable to use certain makeup products because the ingredients are too harsh for their sensitive skin. Surprisingly, permanent makeup is less likely to cause irritation and discomfort.
- Avoiding smudges.
Let's face it: It doesn't take much for regular makeup to budge. The heat and perspiration will melt it and the slightest touch will streak it. With permanent makeup, participating in outdoor sporting activities won't hinder your brows. They'll remain in perfect shape no matter what you do!
- Aiding the visually-impaired.
Since applying color to the eyes and brows requires such painstaking care, it is usually easier to make (and detect) mistakes in these areas. It is also an excellent option for physically-impaired individuals.
The Feathering Technique
Each form of permanent makeup application has its own unique technique. Many skilled permanent makeup artists utilize the feathering technique for brow color application. This process is infinitely more gentle and comfortable for the client than the traditional permanent makeup procedure.
While the traditional method involves the use of a mechanical tattoo gun, similar to the tool used for body tattoos, the feathering method utilizes a small, delicate tool that is non-mechanical. This tool is designed to simulate the look of real hair by creating extremely fine lines, resulting in a soft, natural look (as opposed to the often harsh look associated with tattooing methods).
The makeup artist gently "taps" pigment into the skin with this tool, a practice that allows for the most precise, particular application of color and appropriate depth perception. You are more likely to achieve the result you desire when the technique is as precise and careful as the feathering method.
Eyebrow Embroidery
The word embroidery suggests that perhaps this process is more delicate and light-handed than the traditional tattooing method. It is a newer form of brow makeup technology that involves injecting color only into the top layer of the skin. The result is extremely natural, and the process is considered relatively painless in comparison to the traditional method.
Aftercare
Regardless of which method you opt for, keep the following tips in mind:
- Do not use products with tretinoin (or Retin-A) on the area.
- Do not pick at the brows or surrounding skin. This will prevent it from healing properly and might require reapplication of color..
