Founder

Francois Nars is the man behind the brand. Born in France, Francois attended the Carita Makeup School in Paris. Exposed to the fashion world early on the vogue streets of France, in 1984 he moved to New York City to start is own “one-man industry” in unique makeup artistry.

Francois embodied a revolutionary approach to makeup, which quickly led to his success. With high profile celebrities on his client lists, he quickly became frustrated with the current makeup assortment at the time. Therefore, he released his own collection of lipstick in 1994 and the NARS cosmetics brand was officially born.

A man with a natural artistic flair, Francois produced his own advertising campaign in 1996 to help expand the NARS brand. With amazing camera skills, his career naturally expanded into the art of photography. Even today, he continues to perform all the advertising photographs for the NARS organization.

Packaging

Along with their mission for makeup ingenuity, NARS also strives to create an original presentation. With packaging created by the renowned designer Fabien Baron, they provide their customers with a distinctive tactile sensation. The signature product of the NARS brand is simply named The Multiple. One of the first of its kind, it displays the type of revolutionary makeup products the company advertises. Essentially a three in one stick foundation, The Multiple is a cream to powder, all inclusive, skin formula. It is a product designed to create a luscious glow for eyes, cheeks, lips and body.
