About Marc Jacobs Perfume
Along with his infamous fashion empire, Marc Jacobs also offers a body care line including indulgent fragrances for men and women; Eau De Parfum, perfume purse spray, body crèmes, and shower gels. Like his fashion and accessory designs, Marc Jacobs fragrances are at once classic, contemporary and a bit unconventional. Perfume lines include:
- Signature Marc Jacobs Perfume for Men: A subtle, sexy men's fragrance with notes of bergamot, ginger, fig, rose, cyclamen, cedar wood, and tonka bean.
- Signature Marc Jacobs Perfume for Women: A fresh twist on the classic scent of Gardenia. This lush, fresh also includes notes of musk, cedar, ginger, and wild muguet.
- Essence: The first perfume from Marc Jacobs, this feminine scent is warm and rich with hints of gardenia, jasmine, and Turkish rose.
- Blush: This jasmine based scent also incorporates a delicate combination of Japanese honeysuckle, pink freesia, sandalwood, and cashmere wood.
- Daisy: This scent is rich, but light. A luxurious perfume including notes of wild strawberry, violet leaves, and ruby red grapefruit.
Marc Jacobs Rain Perfume: From the Splash Collection
The Marc Jacobs name is not one to rest easily with the conventional, thus the Splash Collection was created as an alternative to revered, sparingly-used designer fragrances. The Splash scents are light and modern, perfect to be used post bath or shower – and are meant to be applied a bit more liberally than his other perfumes. These softly-scented, limited-edition perfume splashes are released seasonally in different collections.
The Debut
The first Marc Jacobs Splash collection, released in 2006, included the very popular Marc Jacobs Rain perfume in the fist Splash trio -- Rain, Cotton, and Grass. The creators of these perfumes designed them to reflect Marc Jacob's most beloved summer scents. The Splash collection was also unique when it was introduced because most high-end designer perfume names focus on the Eau De Parfums, leaving Marc Jacobs to debut the designer body splash.
Rain: The Scent in Detail
Laurent le Guernec, a Parisian-born Master Perfumer, is the creator of Rain for Marc Jacobs. Rain has been one of the most popular of the collection's scents, so popular, in fact, that is was re-released the following year after its' debut- to the joy of happy fragrance fans.
The scent is both complex and subtle, meant to reflect the light and refreshing aspect of post-rainfall, as well as the rich and earthy undertones. The style is meant to be soothing, cooling and refreshing; much like the world after a fresh rainfall, uniquely relaxed and yet invigorated with new life.
Key notes of Marc Jacobs Rain perfume include:
- Fresh cut wet grass
- Wild strawberries
- Sunshine flower
- White orchid
- Passion and Sunshine flower
- Clementine orange zest
- Tropical rain accord
- Dewy Cypress
Rich woodsy undertones of beech amber, musk, tree moss, and teak wood complete the fragrance.
