Makeovers
From LoveToKnow Makeup
Makeovers are the perfect tool for women wanting a new and fresh look. Learning how to apply makeup from a different angle can help you look natural and mature during the day, and elegant and beautiful at night.
Makeup Trends Periodically Change
When previewing old photographs, it's usually not difficult to determine an approximate decade of the picture based on what type of clothes are being worn, hairstyles, and the makeup applied to the faces.
Heavy light blue eye shadow is synonymous with the 1970s, and light pink shining lip gloss was commonly worn in the 1980s. Many women, who learned how to apply their makeup in the 1970s or 1980s, have never deviated from what they learned decades ago. This is the perfect customer for a makeover.
Where to Get a Makeup Lesson
It’s easy to find a person or a store that will provide new makeup tips to anyone who is interested. Some cost money, and others are free – with the hope you will purchase a full spectrum of makeup once you see how beautiful your face looks after new makeup has been applied.
Some of the most common ways to learn makeup application are:
Friends: If a person likes the way a friend wears her makeup, she can have her friend give her a detailed lesson on what makeup to use and how to apply it. Make it fun and have a makeover dinner party.
Cosmetic Stores: There are many cosmetic stores located within shopping malls across the world. One of the most popular is MAC. MAC stores contain thousands of items for the lips, the eyes, and the entire face, as well as all of the necessary tools to apply the makeup. They also stock makeup experts as employees, who teach anyone how to transform to something modern and beautiful.
Mary Kay: Mary Kay Cosmetics, a company that has been in existence since 1963, is famous for its products and its independent consultants who used to go door-to-door selling makeup to woman across the United States. Now, Mary Kay has a website which provides makeup tips and trends, the ability to utilize “virtual” makeup tips, and a link to find local beauty consultants who are trained to apply makeup to their customers and help them find the right product colors.
Makeup Counters in Department Stores: Most large department stores located within malls across the world sell numerous brands of makeup. Some of the most common are Clinique Makeup, Lancome Cosmetics, Prescriptive Cosmetics, and Origins. Normally, at each makeup counter, there are consultants who are more than happy to provide makeover lessons to any potential customer. It’s usually recommended to make an appointment for a full makeover session; but during non-busy hours, it’s also possible to obtain quick personal help from a consultant.
Spas and Salons: Most spas and salons offer numerous services in addition to typical hair cuts, eyebrow waxing, and massages. There are usually makeup artists in most spas and salons who can teach anyone new makeup techniques and recommend products.
Books about Makeovers
There are several published books on the topic of applying makeup. Some available are step-by-step guides and some provide tips on how to cover problem areas of the skin, new techniques, and/or how to choose the best makeup colors.
Following is one book and one DVD that both come highly recommended:
- "Makeup Makeovers: Expert Secrets for Stunning Transformations," by Makeup Artist: Robert Jones is a book that provides a step-by-step guide to putting on makeup. It’s a book designed to be used by women of any age and any skin tone. It provides information on techniques to bring out a person’s best facial assets and also how to hide undesirable flaws, such as blemishes.
- "YourMakeUp - Simple Steps to Amazing Looks" is a DVD which stars a famous makeup artist. The host has worked with many well-known celebrities, and in the DVD she provides informative makeup tips and details about current trends.
