History

Makeup Art Cosmetics (MAC) was established in Toronto, Canada in 1985. Founders Frank Toskan, a makeup artist and photographer, and Frank Angelo, a businessman, sought to introduce a high-quality cosmetics line that could be used for photo shoots. With the heat and intensity of the lighting used for shoots, it was imperative that makeup artists use a cosmetic that could stand up to the rigors of a photo session, while effectively producing quality photographs. Today, Estee Lauder Companies now owns MAC Cosmetics.

Makeup with a Social Conscience

MAC makeup supports four initiatives: The MAC AIDS Fund, MAC Cruelty-Free Beauty, Back to MAC Recycling and MAC Kids Helping Kids. With this commitment to their initiatives, MAC has established itself in the cosmetics industry by supporting important social causes.

MAC Makeup for Professionals

Lips

Primer – provides an excellent base for lipstick application, conditions lip and reduces feathering. $14
Lipstick – a variety of lipstick options, including conventional lip color, VIVA GLAM in vibrant shades, liquid lip varnish, long-wearing lacquer, two-step pro longwear lip colour, pro longwear gloss coat, lip glass, and lipgelee are available. $14 - $20 *Lip pencil – whether traditional pencil or creamstick liner, each can be used to prevent feathering and bleeding of lip color. $12 - $14

Face

Primer – wear under makeup to prepare skin for a flawless look. $20

Concealer – cover imperfections with a variety of concealer products, including moisturizing, stick, and liquid options. $14 - $15

Foundation – choose from a vaporized mist applicator, water-based liquid, cream, or combination product for a perfect base. $20 - $30
Powder – set your makeup application with pressed, loose, mineralized or bronzing powders. $20 - $45
Blush – mist blush, see through cheek color, powder and cream blushes are available in a number of colors. $16 - $19

Eyes

Primer – wear under eye makeup to smooth the lids and neutralize lid color; lash primer also available. $12.50 - $15
Shadow – eye shadow quad sets and individual colors are available, as well as a loose powder pigment product for more intensity. $13.50 - $35
Liner – traditional eye pencils as well as softer eye kohl, gel formula, liquid liner, and glitter liner are all available. $12.50 - $16.50
Mascara – select from a variety of thickening and volumizing mascaras to complete any eye look. $11 - $13
Brow products – brow defining pencils, powders, and grooming products define and shape eyebrows. $13 - $15
Fake lashes – different lengths, fullness and colors define and emphasize eyes. $10
