Why Estee Lauder?
Estee Lauder is a vernal institution is the world of makeup, and most women around the world are familiar with their makeup products. I am no exception! So when a tube of Estee Lauder All Day Lipstick landed in my hands, I just knew I had to review it. Here’s the process that followed.
Estee Lauder All Day Lipstick Review
The Estee Lauder All Day Lipstick color I’ll be using is called Rosa Rosa, a pinky-brown color that hopefully, will closely match my lips. A great trick to determine if a lipstick will work with your skin tone is to find one that closely matches the "undertone" of your lips; this tends to give the most natural look. Since I love playing up my eyes and having more of a nude lip, this color seems like the perfect choice.
The Application
The container this lipstick is housed in is the classic gold one, with lines that indent the cover throughout. I open the slim blue box, and the lipstick itself, and begin to apply. Here are my findings:
Advantages
- Glides on Smoothly: The first thing I notice right off the back is how easily this lipstick glides on. There’s not tugging or pulling with this formula.
- Non-drying: This formula is also extremely moist, and for someone who hates dry lips (I carry Chapstick everywhere), I really appreciate that.
- Rich Color: The color here is also very dense and it coats very evenly.
Disadvantages
Taste: To be completely frank, the taste of this lipstick is, well, terrible. I know that a lot of lipsticks have a taste to them, but this one is really awful! To make matters even worse, the taste seems to permeate your entire mouth, even if you’re careful not to lick your lips.
- Fragrance: This is another major disadvantage; the fragrance is not pleasant in the least! And once again, like the taste, it takes over the entire experience, going all the way up one’s nose! Coupled with the awful taste, all I want to do is wipe this lipstick off- fast!
- Too shiny: This may not be a disadvantage for everyone, as many people love the look of shiny lips. I do too, but for daytime wear, I tend to like a more sophisticated, matte look. If you too are searching for an everyday look, then you may want to choose a different brand.
Even with all these disadvantages in mind, including the awful, sickening fragrance and taste, I leave the lipstick on. I want to know just how long this look will wear on my lips. Let me be the first to say that the moniker "All Day" is a real misnomer!
This lipstick does “not last all day. I first tested it while drinking coffee, and to my dismay, almost all of the lipstick transferred to my cup; almost none was left on my lips, so that all that was left was a ring around the “outline of my lips- not a pretty look!
I certainly do not want to apply lipstick, only to be left looking like a clown! As you can imagine, I was not happy! With that in mind, I grabbed a tissue and wiped my mouth clean, but unfortunately, the awful taste was still there! In my frustration, and if you can believe it, I actually had to brush my teeth again! How awful!
The Verdict
For me, there are just too many disadvantages to wear this lipstick. Almost everything about the experience was unsettling, and in light of the fact that there are so many lipsticks available today that are pleasantly scented, well, it’s just not worth the trouble!
That said, however, this doesn’t mean that this lipstick won’t be right for you, especially when you consider all of the different shades that are available. However, if you’re like me and hate the icky after taste of fragrance, you may want to stay away from this one!
