While you may not yet be familiar with Britney Spears' perfume, you’ve most likely heard of Britney Spears, the pop icon. Her image is almost unavoidable. Hailing from Louisiana (born in Mississippi), Britney rose to pop stardom on the Mickey Mouse Club in the early nineties. She enjoyed a string of pop hits beginning with Baby One More Time in 1998, followed by Crazy, Oops! I Did it Again, Me Against the Music, which featured Madonna, and most recently, in 2004, Toxic.

Britney has also starred in a movie and had a one season stint on her own reality show, showcasing day-to-day life with Spears and her husband. The artist is currently at work on her fifth studio album, due to come out in summer or autumn of 2007. Most recently, the Grammy winning singer, actress, and business woman is gaining attention for her marriage and impending divorce to her former back-up dancer Kevin Federline, with whom she has two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.

Britney Spears’ Perfume Line

Britney Spears’ perfumes are sold under Britney’s name by EA Fragrances. The name, Britney Spears, whenever used in combination with fragrances is licensed to Elizabeth Arden. As is the general case with celebrity perfumes and other beauty, hair, or skin care products, the perfume is not actually created by Britney Spears. She is the figurehead, relying on her popularity to aid in the marketing of the perfume. Despite this, the celebrity’s input is still used in approving the product. Also, the scent, in this case, is created with consideration to the celebrity’s public identity. So, if you like Britney Spears, you may very well like her line of fragrances, even though they’re not actually created by her. Britney’s three fragrances released up to this point are:

Britney’s line of perfumes is aimed at the general public, which means all three are available just about anywhere and at affordable prices. Because star power and marketability plays into forecasted sales, timing has a lot to do with it. If your local department stores aren’t carrying one of her fragrances, look to online retailers, such as eBay, Amazon, Overstock.com, or any other number of online general or beauty product distributors. Don't forget to compare prices and check on websites that sell perfume exclusively, such as Fragrance.net. Even giant retailers, such as Target, stock some of her perfumes.

Fragrance Descriptions

First in the Britney Spears perfume lineup is Curious, introduced in 2004. Composed of tuberose, magnolia, sandalwood, vanilla, infused mush, pear and jasmine, it portrays a youthful, flirtatious spirit. In its first full year on the market, Cruious made $100 million and was named the highest selling perfume of 2004. Britney earned a reported $12 million, and the selling power of Britney Spears was confirmed.

Fantasy hit the department stores in 2005 on the wings of a television ad that featured a Kevin Federline look-alike. This fragrance, also a success, features the more romantic notes of kiwi, white chocolate, musk, lychee, jasmine, orchid, and quince.

Britney’s latest scent, In Control, was introduced in 2006. It is a spin off of Curious. Differing from the original Curious, In Control is slightly more subtle, and perhaps, mature - a grown-up Curious, you might say. Still sweet and yummy, Britney’s fans will be happy if the star progresses this nicely herself.
