From LoveToKnow Makeup
The Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge Powder Pink blush may be just the thing to perk up cheeks and give that irresistible "flush"!
That Elusive Healthy Glow
Who doesn’t want a pretty flush on their cheeks? Next to shiny hair and come-hither eyes, softly glowing cheeks are a great way to present the prettiest you! The only trouble is how do you choose the right blush for your face? I tend to like makeup that’s natural, looks great in any light, and wears well throughout the day. It’s a tall order, but let’s see if the Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge Powder Pink blush can do the trick!
About Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge Powder Pink
The Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge Powder Pink product promises to fulfill all of my desires; its natural looking, blendable and long-wearing. With that in mind, I begin the application.
The Application
First, the Pot Rouge looks exactly the way it sounds; it comes in a circular container that is more reminiscent of a painter’s tools than makeup artist, but truth be told, the container’s actually rather charming. The lid of the container screws on fairly tight, so I don’t have to worry that it’s going to become contaminated by the other products in my makeup bag and I’m hopeful that the lid will keep germs out as well!
As I unscrew the top, I marvel at the pink color because it’s a glorious combination of pink, brown, and just a hint of apricot; I’m very hopeful that the color will be flattering on my honey beige skin. Here’s the application process
- I dip my index finger into the pot and swirl it around slightly to pick up some color. I wonder briefly if I should be using my brush.
- I look in the mirror, find the top of my cheekbones and begin patting on the color.
- I like the way the color is wearing so far, so I extend the color out slightly towards the outer part of my face (towards the brow).
Advantages
There are several things to love about Pot Rouge, including:
- Blendability: I’m very impressed by how easily this blush blends; it’s incredibly seamless and smooth on my skin! It literally looks as if my skin is glowing from the inside out, as opposed to just "sitting" on my cheeks.
- Wearable Color: I love the color! It’s very natural and really gives that you-only-better vibe.
- Package Design: The design of this container is also very conducive to a smooth application.
That’s because the "mouth" of the pot is large enough for you to use either your fingers or a brush. This is great because it means that you can make quick touch-ups, especially when pressed for time, with just a quick swipe of your fingers.
Disadvantages
While there are few disadvantages with this product, there are some worth noting:
- Concern over germs: As I stated previously, I used my finger to apply this product, and even though I always wash my hands before applying makeup (because I’ll be touching my face), I still worry about contaminating the entire jar.
If you purchase this product, this is something you’ll have to consider. Of course, applying or smoothing out makeup with your hands is usually the best way to get a natural flush, particularly when it comes to blush, but if your skin is sensitive, you may want to use a [[How to Use a Foundation Brush|foundation brush[[.
- Choose the right color: Even though this blush is incredibly wearable it will look best, and most flattering, if you choose the right shade for your skin tone. That brings us to the other disadvantage; there are really no guidelines, save for looking” at the color and making and educated guess, to decide which shade will look best on you. What would be really great is if Bobbi Brown would provide a little more information (on her website) about choosing the right shade.
The Verdict
Disadvantages notwithstanding, this is truly a great and versatile product. The coverage is excellent, it’s long lasting and the color is incredibly flattering. If you want a natural glow, then this is a product you’ll love for years to come!
