Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow Review

Bobbi Brown has enjoyed tremendous success in recent years. This is due in no small part to her personal philosophy of makeup. For Bobbi Brown, makeup should look natural: an extension of you, only better.

Kudos I say to Ms. Brown’s philosophy! Yes, I want to look good, but I also want to look like me. I don’t ever want to put makeup on that leaves those who know me scratching their heads and wondering, “What’s she thinking?” With this in mind, I start my Bobbi Brown eye shadow review to help me look and feel great!

Today, I’ll be working with Bobbi Brown’s eye shadow in bone. My eyes, like many women out there, are my best feature, so I try hard to play them up while keeping the rest of my makeup simple. It appears then that my goal of simple makeup lends itself beautifully to Bobbi Brown’s collection.

Like most professional women, I want to be taken seriously at the office, and Bobbi Brown seems to embrace this concept. Much in the same way mini skirts and cleavage baring tops are better left for a fun Saturday evening, so too are the glitter eye pencils and bad-gal lashes; a definite no-no for the office!

That being said, however, I also don’t want to look like a plain-Jane that blends into the drab beige carpeting! Pretty, and polished, at least when it comes to work, are my makeup mantras; let’s see if Bobbi can deliver!

As mentioned previously, the shade I’m working with is called bone and I’ve deliberately chosen this color because it works well with my honey-beige skin tone without looking garish. Here’s what I find:

Here are some of the advantages I found in my Bobbi Brown eye shadow review:

• Packaging: I love the shiny black container the eye shadow comes in, as well as the wide, screw-tight lid because it allows me to see the shade of the eye shadow quickly and easily.

• Large surface area: a common complaint I have with many makeup companies is that their eye shadow containers are very small. When I finally get my eye shadow brush in there and manage to get some actual color on my eyes, copious amounts of dust and makeup flakes have already fallen onto the counter top, and unfortunately, my shirt! Thankfully, this is not the case with Bobbi Brown’s eye shadows.

• A fantastic look: I’ve covered my entire eye in this silky shade, and am happy to report that they look fantastic! Truly, it’s amazing how large, defined and bewitching (if I do say so myself) my eyes look!

Luckily, there were only a few disadvantages in my Bobbi Brown eye shadow review.

• Go easy with dry skin: Maybe it’s just a mid-west thing, but by the time the winter months role around, my delicate eye area becomes dry. In response to this, eye shadows tend to “sit” on top of them. There’s no need to fret, however, as I easily rectify the situation with some eye moisturizer.

• Need to use the right tools: Unfortunately, it really does seem as if you need to use Bobbi Brown’s specifically designed eye makeup brushes for their eye shadows. I tried to cheat and use my old brush, but I have a feeling that the application would have gone a lot smoother had I just given in and paid the $25 asking price.

Bobbi Brown’s eye shadow is truly versatile, ultra-wearable and incredibly chic. It was a breeze to apply and lasted, quite literally, all day long. What I really love about this particular eye shadow is that it’s bendable enough to work on a variety of skin tones. This one’s a keeper!
