Bobbi Brown Cream Blush
From LoveToKnow Makeup
I've often heard that the Bobbi Brown cream blush collection can help you to give off that healthy, rosy glow, but I've often been a bit shy to use blush. After all, the last thing I ever want to do is look more like a glowing clown than a glamorous ingénue, but because this product promises a more natural look, I decided to try it. As you'll see, I was more than glad that I did!
About Bobbi Brown Cream Blush
Several colors of Bobbi Brown cream blush is available, including:
- Blushed Rose
- Chocolate Cherry
- Milk Chocolate
- Pale Pink
- Pink Truffle
- Powder Pink
- Raspberry
- Violet Plum
The Arrival of the Product
I decided to purchase the Blushed Rose color, so that will be the shade that this review is based on.
I eagerly anticipated its arrival and when it finally did arrive, I was not disappointed. The packaging was sleek with no extra bulk whatsoever, and the blush's container itself is also sleek and smooth, with a wide mouth. While it may not sound like much, the fact that the mouth of the container is unencumbered by "frills" means that accessing the blush formula is as easy as pie. I can either apply the blush with my fingertips, or I can use Bobbi's special cream brush.
The Formula
Perhaps the most impressive feature of Bobbi Brown's cream blush is the formula. This one is silky smooth and glides on over the skin effortlessly. In addition, the color is nothing short of spectacular; it's sheer, so it offers "buildable coverage". This means that you can keep the look very natural by using a light hand, or make it much more dramatic by using a heavier hand.
Application
Staring with freshly scrubbed skin, I apply the blush to the apples of my cheeks. Immediately, I'm amazed at how well the blush goes on, and even more amazed at how nice I look; to my absolute delight, I don't look like a clown out all! Instead, I look as if I'm softly glowing as the subtle color works with my skin to enhance my natural tone. After a few seconds, I can see that this $22.00 blush was well worth the investment!
All Over Coverage
Bobbi claims that her cream blush can be used all over your face, so I decide to place some of the color on my lips. Again, the overall effect is very natural and very pretty. Although I thought that my lips were left a little too bare by this particular shade, I could definitely see myself employing this technique- especial on those day's when I'm pressed for time.
The Foundation's Effect on Blush
I actually applied this blush twice - once with foundation and once without it. The second time I applied it, I applied it on top of foundation., The blush works just as well when applied over foundation, but you may want to use a slightly lighter hand; it seems as though the foundation tends to more readily "grab" onto the pigment in the cream formula. That said, however, the overall look still look's fantastic!
Find the Best Look
As previously mentioned, I applied Bobbi Brown's cream blush with lipstick, eyeshadow, mascara, the works. I then took all of that makeup off and used the blush in a more natural way. Without the "extras" (like eyeshadow and mascara), my face is still looked fantastic. Perhaps the very best benefit of this cream blush is the fact that it looks equally great with a "face full' of makeup and with just a light touch. In my book, because this product is so versatile, it's a keeper!
Should You Try It?
Hands down, yes, you should definitely think about trying this particular cream blush. This formula is soft and gentle to your skin, but still manages to convey gorgeous eye-catching color in a very feminine way. If, like me, you've been wary of trying blush in the past, let this be the first one you try as you break out of that shell- it'll definitely be worth it!
