Company Background

Bobbi Brown began her career in the cosmetic world as a makeup artist. The driving force steering her into this path was a frustration with makeup selection. As a young woman, she struggled in the 1980s with the fashionable beauty ideals of the time. In this era of flashy heavy makeup, she began to create her own mixtures to compliment her average brown looks.

After her completion of a degree in Theatrical Makeup at Emerson College in Boston, she moved to the city of New York. Continuing her strife against mainstream cosmetics, she met up with a chemist and formed her own makeup creations. Her first initial offering was a line of lipsticks with a mix and match assortment of ten colors, a rare find at the time. Due to the strong success of these lip products, in 1991, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics was formed.
