I have been pigeon-holed with both a good girl reputation and in a beauty product rut. This is exactly why I decided to branch out this winter and try Benefit BADgal Lash. There is something deliciously naughty about sporting "bad girl" lashes!

Here's Looking at You

I am a total mascara junkie. My eyes are green and my lashes are long enough to annoy me when I wear sunglasses, and so I am always playing with tubes of color and those that curl and define. My eyes are nice enough that I don't need to hide or conceal them. As such, I rather purchase mascaras that bring either drama or fun to my cosmetics look. The name of this product definitely sucked me in. Let's be honest, who doesn't secretly want to be a bad gal?

So, was this product really big, bold, beautiful, and bad? I guess so. My impressions were both positive and negative, but in the end I am definitely giving this one a couple more tries:

Pros
  • Big fun in a big tube.

I love the oversized applicator and the whole feeling of having a big bang lash experience. With the chunky tube, there was no way this baby was getting lost in my purse.

  • Scent Free

The mascara was scent free and didn’t flake as it dried and was worn for awhile. I wear contact lenses, so flake-free eye makeup is a big deal and something I always look for. This mascara stayed put throughout the day.

Cons
  • False Advertisement

Even though its advertised as looking like a “pair of false eyelashes,” I honestly didn’t notice a huge difference. My eyelashes darkened in color, but I didn’t feel as if they looked exceptionally striking.

  • Expensive

With that being said the $19 price tag seemed sort of steep for a product not yielding impressive results. While not on the very expensive end of the cosmetics spectrum, it set me back enough that I felt I really wanted my money’s worth.

Consolation Prize

While I wasn’t immediately smitten with Benefit Cosmetics BADgal Lash, I definitely will use it in the future. I don’t really need a whole lot of lengthening and thickening for my lashes, so I will keep it around for its long-lasting deep color.

The product also comes in a dark blue color, which is a bonus when I want something a little more fun and out of the box. It is also available in a smaller size meaning I can stash a little Benefit naughtiness along with a full sized version of one of my other mascaras.

You will love BADgal Lash if:

  • You aren’t looking for a lot of lengthening. For those with naturally defined lashes this formulation is perfect.
  • You want a supersized mascara with a powerful brush capable of painting every single lash.
