About Natasha Burwell

Having experience as a makeup artist for one of the world’s leading cosmetics brands, we recently caught up with Natasha for an interview. This talented young woman started out by receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology before deciding to focus her time and energy 100% to her full passion – beauty and makeup artistry.

She has worked as a MAC retail artist as well as a counter manager and various other positions within the company, which has provided her the experience and know-how to help women discover their true beauty without caking on an undesirable amount of product.

With Fall upon us, we had the privilege of asking her advice as to what the hottest trends and best makeup tricks are for this upcoming season. She was happy to reveal how makeup can change a woman’s outlook on herself, and that you don’t necessarily have to empty your wallet to achieve a winning cosmetic design.

About 2007 Fall Makeup with Natasha Burwell

Exclusive Interview

Please provide a little background about yourself, who you are, and what is planned for you in the near future

I am a former MAC Cosmetics artist and assistant store manager. I worked for the company for about 5 years and now I am pursuing my own freelance career in the make-up industry. This has included being a leader in Nordstrom’s yearly Seasonal Trends show. [I’ve also contributed to the community through] participating in the San Jose AIDS Walk for the past 6 years.

What first got you interested in the beauty industry?

How your make-up can ultimately reflect your inner beauty and [is able to] transform a woman's confidence.

What are some of the hottest trends for 2007 fall makeup?

Fashion is going back to that 1950's glam look of bold liner and rich lips in combination with matte skin.

How can a person get the updated Fall look without spending a lot of money?

This is achieved easily by purchasing the season's necessities and adding it to your already existing makeup collection: I suggest MAC’s Blacktrack Fluidline, Viva Glam I Lipstick, and Blot Powder.

Are there any exceptional fall beauty bargains?

All of the above listed products are fantastic and a great buy. Each item is less than $20, leaving you plenty of money to purchase some fun new products you’ve been wanting to try as well.

What mistakes do people usually make regarding makeup with the changing seasons?

Well, as the seasons change so does a person natural skin tone. For instance in the summer time we all tend to be a little more toasty than normal and with that our makeup is altered to adjust to that change. That’s why having a make-up consultation, at least one every season, with your favorite brand, is imperative.

Do you have any favorite brands?

I enjoy using MAC and NARS.

Thanks to Natasha, we can be inspired to change our fall look without feeling misguided or compelled to spend too much money at the cosmetics counter. In line with the 1950s glamorous look she told us about, grey and olive green shadow are currently reigning supreme on the runways along with the matte skin and bold lips.

Intimidated by the idea of your lips outshining the rest of your makeup? Rest assured that even the boldest reds now usually contain an iridescence that makes them less harsh and easily wearable by women of varying skin tones. Dramatic does not mean gaudy when it comes to the retro glam you will find with 2007 fall makeup finds.
